My son had some fears about peeing in the toilet (instead of his pants!) but eventually with encouragement was able to use the toilet around 6 years old. He was still poohing in his pads at that time. At a loss to know what to do about the latter we bribed him with the promise of a computer console if he would start using the toilet to pooh in which he did after a few weeks near his 7th birthday. However shortly after that he started peeing in his pants again!! He's 8 now and still able to pooh in the toilet but still wets himself. He says, "I can't do both', "I haven't got time", "I don't feel it" (even though he was dry for a year??) He doesn't wet at night.
My impression is that going to the toilet is an annoying inconvenience which keeps him from enjoying his special interests. We've tried a chart/ go to the toilet every hour type thing but he doesn't want to co-operate or apparently have any motivation to change.
How should we approach this?
