Dear Dr. T and C. Evans,
How much of a role do hormones play in triggering pronounced sensory concerns in Aspergers leading to the diagnosis of ASD?
Would an adolescent male with possible Aspergers have elevated difficulties with sensory - sounds, odors, texture of foods and tastes, feel of clothing, bright lighting, crowds (school hallways and gyms, movie theatres, shopping malls), during puberty? or could this simply be an anxiety? Is there a difference and if so, how?
Is this when most young males with ASD are found to have the most difficulty - during puberty? Is there a scientific reason of how hormones play a role in ASD?
Thank you for all the podcasts you have done as its such a remarkable resource of information!
